Abstract

In 2005 was discovered the first triple asteroid system, named Sylvia with satellites Romulus and Remus. This system is located in the midle of the main asteroid belt. At the present moment are known almost ten triple asteroid systems. They were found not only in the main asteroid belt, but also among the NEAs and among the TNOs. Their dynamics and stability are quite complex. There are cases where appear intriguing resonances, close encounters with planets and the non-spherical gravitational potential of the central body can play an important role on the stability of the system. I this presentation we will give a general view of this class of  systems and will discuss the stability and evolution of the particular cases of 87 Sylvia and the 2001SN263.
